Data Protection
Protection of privacy

The operators of these pages take the protection of your personal data very seriously. We treat your personal data confidentially and in accordance with the statutory data protection regulations and this privacy statement. The use of our website is generally possible without providing personal data. As far as personal data on our pages (e. g. name, address or e-mail addresses) is requested, it is – if possible – always kept voluntarily. This data will not be forwarded to third parties without your consent. We would like to point out that data transmission on the Internet (e. g. communication by e-mail) is always threatened by security vulnerabilities. A complete protection of the data against access by third parties is never possible.

Cookies

Some of the Internet pages use so-called cookies. Cookies do not damage your computer and do not contain viruses. Cookies are used to make our offer more user-friendly, effective and safe. Cookies are small text files that are stored on your computer and are used to store your personal data. Most of the cookies we use are so-called “session cookies”. They are deleted automatically at the end of your visit. Other cookies remain stored on your device until you delete them. These cookies enable us to recognize your browser the next time you visit our website. You can set your browser in such a way, that you will be informed about the setting of cookies and that your browser will not accept cookies or allow cookies only in individual cases or only in certain cases or in general and you can set your browser to automatically delete cookies when you close a website. The deactivation of cookies may restrict the functionality of this website.

Server Log Files

The provider of the pages automatically collects and stores information in so-called server log files, which your browser automatically transmits to us. These data contains: Browser type and browser version, operating system used, referrer URL, hostname of the accessing computer, time of server request. These data can not be assigned to specific persons. This data is not combined with other data sources. We reserve the right to check this data at a later date if we become aware of specific indications of illegal use.

Contact form

If you send us a message via our contact form, the data you send through this will be stored to answer and to process your request. We will not forward your data to third parties without your consent.

Postal addresses and email addresses that you provide when you make an enquiry or order information materials are used exclusively for correspondence or delivery purposes. When you use other web-based services that require the submission of more extensive personal data, such as online job applications or registration for training courses, the data protection declarations adapted to those services will also apply.

Regular data erasure deadlines

Personal data is regularly erased when it is no longer needed for contractual purposes (for example for employment, subsidy, rental, sale or service contracts), if the data subject has not given any separate authorisation and if statutory data storage obligations and periods do not require longer periods of data storage.

Planned transfers of data to third countries

As a general principle, data will not be transferred to third countries. Exceptions are possible under exceptional legal circumstances.

The rights of the data subject

You are entitled to enquire about your personal data and its processing, to have the data corrected if necessary, and to request restriction of processing or the erasure of the data. The data will then be erased.

If you have any questions or complaints about this website, please contact the GIZ data protection officer (see contact information provided above). You also have the right to lodge a complaint with the responsible data protection supervisory authority. The responsible authority in this case is the German Federal Commissioner for Data Protection and Freedom of Information (BfDI).

Newsletter Data Protection

Following subscription to the newsletter, your e-mail address is used for our own advertising purposes until you cancel the newsletter again. Cancellation is possible at any time.

Any personal details collected as part of the press mailing list subscription will only be used for the purpose of processing the subscription and dealing with your enquiries. Any personal information that we collect apart from your address, especially the job function and medium that you work for, help us pinpoint and deliver topics relevant for your target audience. Your details will not be passed onto third parties. No use will be made of your details for consulting purposes, for advertising or for market research. If you cancel your subscription, all your personal details will be deleted from our database.

Statistical data

We analyse the performance of our newsletter campaigns. If you open a newsletter that has been sent by us, a file that has been integrated into the e-mail (a so-called web-beacon) connects to our server. As a result, it can be determined whether a newsletter message has been opened and if any link has been clicked on. Technical information is also recorded at that time (e.g. the time of access, the IP address, type of browser and operating system). This information cannot be allocated to the respective newsletter recipient. Their sole purpose is the performance of statistical analyses of newsletter campaigns. The results of such analyses can be used to tailor future newsletters to the interests of their recipients more effectively.

If you do not want to permit an analysis, you must unsubscribe from the newsletter. We provide a link for you to do this in every newsletter message.

Matomo (formerly called Piwik)

This website uses the open source web analysis service Matomo. Matomo uses so-called „cookies,“ which are text files that are stored on your computer and that make it possible to analyse your use of this website. In conjunction with this, the information about the use of this website generated by the cookie will be archived on our server. Prior to archiving, the IP address will first be anonymized.

Matomo cookies will remain on your device until you delete them.

The storage of Matomo cookies and the use of this analysis tool are based on Art. 6 Sect. 1 lit. f GDPR. The website operator has a legitimate interest in the analysis of user patterns, in order to optimize the operator’s web offerings and advertising.

If you do not consent to the storage and use of your data, you have the option to deactivate the storage and use of such data here. In this case, an opt out cookie will be placed in our browser, which prevent the storage of usage data by Matomo. If you delete your cookies, this will also result in the deletion of the Matomo opt out cookie. Hence, you will have to reactivate the opt out when you return to visit our website.

Comment function on this website

For the comment function on this page, in addition to your comment, information about the time of writing, the comment, your e-mail address and – if you do not post anonymously – your chosen user name will be saved.

Storage of the IP address

Our comment function stores the IP addresses of users who write comments. Since we do not check comments on our site before they are published, we need this data to be able to take action against the author in case of violations of the law such as insulting behaviour or propaganda.

This site uses SSL encryption for security reasons and to protect the transmission of confidential content, such as requests you send to us as the site operator. You can recognize an encrypted connection by the fact that the address line of the browser changes from “http://” to “https://” and the lock symbol in your browser line. If SSL encryption is enabled, third parties cannot read the data you transmit to us.

Right to information, deletion and blocking

You have the right at any time to access information about your stored personal data, their origin, recipient and the purpose of the data processing as well as a as a right to correction, blocking or deletion of this data. For this and further questions on the topic of personal data you can contact us at any time at the address given in the imprint.
