Make-IT Village Capital VIRAL Framework and Investment Readiness Workshop
On Thursday, November 29th, Village Capital and Make-IT in Africa held an investment-readiness training workshop at the Intercontinental Hotel Nairobi, Kenya.
Village Capital builds bridges for entrepreneurs who are creating an inclusive and sustainable world. Village capital programs connect high potential, early-stage entrepreneurs with the people, institutions, and capital they need to succeed.
Since 2009, Village Capital has supported more than 1,000 entrepreneurs through their programs and partnered with affiliated investment funds, including VilCap Investments, that have invested seed capital in more than 90 program graduates.
Introduction to VIRAL Pathway to Scale
The event was separated into two segments, the first was the trainers discussion on answering the “why?” behind ‘your‘ company. Thereafter it was followed by Introduction to VIRAL Pathway to Scale and VIRAL Benchmarking Activity to guide companies through a diagnostic exercise to self-identify both their current position and the milestones required to reach the next stage for their business.
Start-up presentations
The second segment of the workshop was Peer-feedback where the start-ups walked through each other’s milestones in groups of three, planned their milestones by selecting two critical milestones to focus on and developed a strategy to reach them. Finally, the entrepreneurs in groups of three reviewed each other’s milestone strategies.
This session was very engaging and gave the chance for the start-ups to discuss milestone planning and setting milestone strategies.
Village Capital invited guest speakers to share about their experience exiting their company and having an exit in sight.
