One Year B2B Matchmaking for Tech Start-ups in Kenya

Start-ups can’t do everything all on their own. That’s why it’s so important to find a match with a prospective business partner. Supported by Make-IT in Africa, the German Chamber of Commerce (AHK) organized exposure trips for 24 start-ups. The aim was to connect them with selected companies in Kenya or international partners, such as in Germany. Building contacts with new collaborators – and customers – for 2021.

Medical 3D Printing Technology - Made in Africa: Microve Infinite met two potential investors during the Bits & Pretzel founders festival

Micrive Infinite represented by Chris Muraguri, was selected to take part in the tour. Micrive Infinite is a Nairobi based startup that is spearheading the medical 3D printing technology sector in Kenya. Chris Muraguri had the opportunity to meet two potential investors that showed interest in Micrive Infinite. Davinci is a renowned robotic surgery company. Dassault Systems is the World Leader in 3D Design & Engineering Software, Dassault Systèmes provides PLM & 3D Modeling Software, Simulation Apps and Industry Solutions.

A selected group of brave, enthusiastic and like-minded entrepreneurs from all over the world had the opportunity to explore some of Germany’s most promising hotspots for both startups and “old economy” in the Bavarian Region. Bavaria is among the economically most successful regions in Europe with a GDP of $701bn. Munich and Upper Bavaria is one of the top 2 regions in Germany with the highest density of big and medium-sized corporates. The Startups got the chance to connect to peers and talents, understand what drives the Bavarian startup scene, got a grasp of current developments in the market and most importantly: match with companies, partners and investors.
Bits & Pretzels

The Bits & Pretzels - The founders festival was the peak of the one week tour. Bits & Pretzels is Europe’s biggest startup festival that connects founders, investors, start-up enthusiasts and all other decision-makers of the startup ecosystem. This year, the three-day festival had about 5,000 attendees and more than 100 speakers on seven stages. The best startups selected by the Bits & Pretzels team had the opportunity to put up their own exhibition table for one day and to join the Bits & Pretzels pitch contest.

Start.Up! Germany 2019 Exposure Trip to North Rhine-Westphalia - 27th October 2019 - 1st November 2019

The Start.Up! Exposure Trip 2019 was graced by 54 startups from 20 countries in the fields of Insurtech, Logistics/ mobility and Smart city. The 6-day trip was implemented by the Association of German Chambers of Industry and Commerce (DIHK) and supported by the Tech-Entrepreneurship of GIZ, Make -IT. The participating startups had the chance to discover the huge opportunities Europe’s biggest economy has to offer to startups from all over the world, visit startup hotspots in Germany’s industrial heartland, get in touch with companies and investors and meet hundreds of other startups, corporates and a variety of top speakers at the RuhrSummit in Bochum, one of Germany’s biggest events for young tech entrepreneurs.
