Full speed ahead for Africa AI Accelerator

Africa AI Accelerator Ghana is out of the starting blocks and up and running. The call for entries concluded end of June and now eleven promising start-ups from Ghana, South Africa, Rwanda and Uganda have been chosen to participate in the 6-month business development programme.

The Africa AI Accelerator Program offers start-ups coaching and mentorship by AI experts at IBM. The 6-month programme is designed to support the eleven selected participants in business and product development. In addition to trainings, both virtual and live, the programme will help build collaborations between start-ups and global corporations such as IBM. Congrats for the selected participants!

The Africa AI Accelerator Program has been designed by Ghana Tech Lab. It aims at the promotion of local innovations in the field of artificial intelligence, machine learning and data usage. Program partners are GIZ’s tech entrepreneurship and AI initiatives “Make-IT in Africa” and “FAIR Forward – Artificial Intelligence for All” and IBM.

Process

The participating start-ups are supported in the 6-months program mainly in terms of business and product development. The accelerator program focuses on virtual and physical phases, including a fully-funded bootcamp training. Another goal of the program is to encourage collaborations between startups and corporates to provide the best environment for growth. Therefore, the participants receive intense coaching and mentorship from AI experts of IBM and will get the possibility to extend their global network.
