On the occasion of the selection procedure for the “Start.up! Germany” tour 2019, the Delegation of German Industry and Commerce in Nigeria (AHK) and Make-IT in Africa organized the “Innovation Pitch Challenge”, which took place on August 9th, 2019, at the Impact Hub Lagos, Nigeria.

Nine shortlist candidates were invited to present their ideas. During the event, the participating start-ups were able to network with other similar start-ups within their industry and also pitch their ideas/business models to other investors in attendance. At the end, three start-ups working on Mobility, InsurTech, and Smart City sector were selected to participate in the Start.up! Germany event for entrepreneurs from these sectors at the end of October 2019 in North Rhine-Westphalia (Dusseldorf, Cologne and Ruhr area):

1. Staffbus: To help solve the issue of traffic in Lagos, this start-up has created an online platform for employers to request/lease a bus for their employees to commute to work daily.
2. AutoGenius: This start-up has developed an insurance marketplace platform which allows customer to access, buy and manager their insurances all in one place.
3. Bitmama: This start-up is helping Africans gain access to crypto currency and give them access to a digital economy.
