On October 24th 2019, betterplace lab welcomed the Make-IT Alliance to the 11th network meeting in Berlin. Host of the day, Franziska Kreische, proudly presented the latest “Innovation Made in Africa” Volume 3 and Volume 4 publications – a result of a recent project by betterplace lab, WSA and Make-IT in Africa.
Networking was once again at the heart of the Make-IT Alliance meeting. Relying on a strong network is not only a crucial asset for aspiring entrepreneurs, but for the Make-IT initiative as well. Make-IT thanked the Alliance members for their contribution to the success of Make-IT since 2016.
Merck received the opportunity to showcase their latest updates on Merck’s Africa Satellite Programme. Out of 237 applications the four most promising start-ups are now invited to Darmstadt, Germany, to participate in the selection days for the Merck Global Accelerator. In addition to several new activities by the Make-IT Alliance partners, endeva introduced a new opportunity: Endeva is looking for an international online jury for Make-IT in Africa’s “Partners in Acceleration” programme. Make-IT in Africa is about to launch a challenge for innovation hubs and service providers as they can apply for a grant to roll out Make-IT in Africa’s “Partners in Acceleration” programme.
