Wazi Vision offers Ugandans affordable glasses created using waste material such as plastic and paper. The start-up developed a cheap and intelligent way to make eye care possible due to the fact that eye examinations and glasses are traditionally very expensive in Uganda. Their glasses are not only cheap to produce but also look very stylish. A high-end (and somewhat more cost-intensive) series of glasses cross-subsidises simpler, inexpensive versions and vision tests for others who otherwise cannot afford them. Almost all staff members are women and have been specially trained for their job.
