Make a difference in emerging countries’ start-up ecosystems: Make-IT Day 2020

As a part of Make-IT Alliance’s commitment to build up international start-up ecosystems, they have teamed up with AsiaBerlin Summit to host the Make-IT Day 2020 on 24 September. This online-only event should be a top priority for anyone interested in getting more deeply involved in the development of start-up ecosystems in emerging economies.

On behalf of Germany’s Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ), the event brings together a wide range of Make-IT Alliance partners, including private sector companies as well as international associations and NGOs, e.g. Smart Africa, ADB and others. While all bring unique perspectives to the table, the common vision is to foster local digital innovation in developing and emerging countries.

Some programme highlights:

  • Dr. Maria Flachsbarth, Germany’s Parliamentary State Secretary, will share BMZ’s vision of the future of Make-IT and welcome new members to the Make-IT Alliance.
  • Dr. Jan Schwaab, Head of Digital Transformation in Africa at GIZ, will talk about mainstreaming the Make-IT experience.
  • Breakout sessions on Corporate Innovation, Best Practice Start-up Support, and Shaping Make-IT in Asia.

Since its launch in 2016, the Make-IT Alliance has supported hundreds of start-ups, only possible thanks to the involvement of its many esteemed members. Particularly in light of the current pandemic, local innovators need these partners’ expertise more than ever.

Make-IT Day 2020 is an interactive format, and participants are encouraged to discuss their ideas and projects with representatives of the BMZ during the event.
