STARTUP ECOSYSTEM FORUM
The University of Nairobi convenes several stakeholders to organize and execute the annual Nairobi Innovation Week to support and accelerate the innovation and entrepreneurship ecosystem in the region. As part of the Nairobi innovation Week, a strong start-up movement has emerged, backed by over 30 start-up enablers in Kenya. Make-IT in Africa has made deliberate efforts to support and strengthen the growing start-up ecosystem through building the capacity of entrepreneurship enablers in Kenya such as Nairobi Innovation Week.
Therefore, Make-IT in Africa partnered with Nairobi Innovation Week to host a first of its kind “Startup Ecosystem Forum” on June 11th, 2019, at the University of Nairobi. The forum brought together over 300 stakeholders of the Kenyan entrepreneurial ecosystem for a comprehensive dialog on the dynamic scope of entrepreneurship in Kenya. The audience included government agencies, start-ups, accelerators, incubators, co-working spaces, research & academic institutions, foreign missions, corporates, mentors, investors, and associations. The dialog served to promote digital innovation for sustainable and inclusive development in Africa, the core mission of Make-IT in Africa.
